Prepare yourself for an isometric trip through gothic scenery, barren natural landscapes and, of course, a few brimstone and fire pits as you turn your demonic foes into stains using magic, steel and good old fashioned brawn. New players who are willing to check out some of the promotional materials will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cinematics, which are a step beyond what most expect from a small indie studio. Published by Grinding Gear Games, a unique aspect of Path of Exile is that it doesn’t have an in-game currency and instead uses an item bartering system should a player need anything. Path of Exile has all the spell casting and demon slaying you can shake a stick at minus the price tag of its Blizzard competitor. This Diablo-esque fantasy brings a lot more to the table than just a repetitive soundboard and a few hours of mashing hotkeys.
